Bowls on Bowls on Bowls: A Definitive Shaking Bowl Ranking

Top five dishes to try at one of STL’s best hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

Shaking Bowl? More like Ranking Bowl! But enough with the extremely funny and clever jokes. Let’s get to the list!

4. Fire Bowl

This meal is, you guessed it… fire! No, it’s literally spicy. But it’s also fire in the sense that it’s really tasty. Unfortunately, its peppery flavor throws me off just enough for it to rank relatively low on the list. However, don’t let my weak taste buds stop you from sinking your teeth into this meal.

As a culinary chameleon, shrimp is one of the most versatile foods out there. It can be dipped in sauce, fried with rice, or in this case, swimming amongst a bowl full of red cabbage, carrots and cucumber.

When I was a kid, my dad and I boiled an entire squid to serve his guests at a dinner party. I have fond memories of dropping the slimy, severed tentacles into the pot of water. This bowl perfectly captures the feelings of nostalgia I have for squid-based food. Although, nothing will ever top the (drumroll, please)…

There’s nothing better than a bowl that’s both delicious and nutritious. This dish is the perfect option for vegetarians that are trying to add more protein to their diet.
