Ladue UNICEF is the high school’s chapter of UNICEF, or the United Nations Children’s fund. This is an organization dedicated to providing relief, particularly in developing countries. An agency of the United Nations, UNICEF is an important welfare organization on the world stage. The Ladue chapter of UNICEF was founded in 2017 and has since expanded to a club with more than 100 members.
“ I joined UNICEF because I completely support the organization’s mission to provide aid to women and children around the world. I find it so amazing that here at Ladue, we can come together as students in our club to help people who live on the opposite side of the globe,” said Zahra Khan, an executive board member of UNICEF Ladue.
UNICEF’s mission of defending and inspiring children all over the world is made possible through a large number of fundraisers, drives, and other initiatives. Currently, UNICEF Ladue is hosting a fundraising event for the Halloween season.
“It’s called Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and each club member made their own small donation box to collect money from neighbors, family, or friends. In two weeks, we’ll collect the money, send it to UNICEF, and award prizes to the members who raised the most,” said Khan. “In this way, we keep the club exciting all while championing a great cause.”
All Ladue students can participate in this. Contact them on their instagram, @unicefladue or email any one of the Ladue UNICEF team members.
“UNICEF protects the basic rights of children everywhere,” said Tarek Al Husseini, an executive board member of UNICEF Ladue. “We make sure that they are not only surviving, but thriving.”
