Taking risks in life is one of the best things a person can do. The infamous comfort zone is where one is complacent about where they are, fearing the unpredictability of what’s outside the bubble, staying where they know they’ll be safe. However, it is what’s outside the bubble that lies real growth and how it heightens our limits. Making decisions without knowing the outcome is essential for people to grow.
Risk-taking is, in a way, similar to gambling. In gambling, a person places a bet without a fixed outcome — this is similar to life, where a person makes decisions without knowing what’ll happen next. This analogy also holds true with the fact that making planned decisions can lead to significant results. It’s essential to make choices with preparation and mindfulness instead of emotions and impatience.
Obstacles will always exist in gambling and life. These include losing money, failing a startup business, or getting a bad grade. With preparation, though, a person can evaluate and brainstorm solutions for potential failures so the problem won’t affect them as much, and they’ll be able to bounce back up quicker.
Taking risks when a person is young can lead to many benefits. One of the advantages is developing a tolerance for failure and crafting an adaptive mindset. Also, it teaches people to be calm and confident in their situation since they know how to build back up. If a person deals with failure often, they will know how to turn it into an opportunity to grow, and it causes them to develop problem-solving skills and a stronger mindset.
