Ladue High School hosted Rams Around The World April 24, to foster understanding and acceptance of one another’s culture, cuisines and artistic expressions. Rams Around the World is celebrated every year to bring all Ladue cultures together and get to know about each culture, food, art and history. Many students were amazed by the food choices, performances and the outfits of people from their cultures.
“It is a really great tradition every year because it allows everyone in the community to experience food and culture from every different culture and students can contribute every booth to add in a touch of there own background,” Mia Gourtzelis (10) said.
Rams Around the World not only gives a chance for everyone to know different cultures, but also gives a chance to people to showcase their identity.
“I have been doing passports and things like rams around the world ever since I was a little girl and it’s always been one of my most favorite events because it gives a chance for me to share my culture with everyone, express who I am and to get to experience activities, performances,” Emaan Waheed (11).
Mehndi was another addition to event which glorified the event.
“I have always liked mehndi since it is a part of my culture and the color red that it appears in makes me happy,” Waheed said. “I also love creating beautiful patterns on people’s hands.”
Rams Around the World is a unique experience and many Ladue students who helped run the event believe their time was spent well. They emphasize the importance of getting involved and being aware of different cultures in our community.
“It is really important for students to share their cultural background and for other students to have an idea about different cultures and ram around the world is the place that we can all come together and learn about each other’s culture,” Sara Rohatgi (11) said.
