As prom season approaches, the hunt for the perfect prom dress begins. It can be hard to know where to search to find your perfect dress knowing there are so many options.
The first popular option is Splash. If you are from the Ladue area, there is no doubt you’ve stepped foot in Splash sometime in your life. The store has such a wide variety of dresses. However, it’s almost guaranteed that you will somehow end up in the same dress as someone else, so if original is what you’re going for I’d look elsewhere. The store is pretty moderately priced, meaning you won’t find a dress for 30 dollars, even though seeing anything over $100 would be a stretch. A Splash dress has never let me down, and always provides good quality clothing. It’s always a staple in my shopping experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
The second option is Windsor. Windsor is a dress store that can be found in the mall, making it an easy location to pop in and check out on a weekend shopping trip. The store does have its flaws, and the majority of dresses I’ve tried on from there have been lacking in either quality or appearance. It’s once in a blue moon that you will find a good quality dress. The one benefit I’ve found from shopping at Windsor is the dresses are extremely affordable, making the purchase of a lacking dress much more tolerable.
A third option for dress shopping is the wide variety of online stores. Nowadays, it seems like shopping is almost exclusively online. But, I don’t believe it’s the best option for dress shopping. Too many times, I have ordered a dress a month before a dance and yet it still manages to get lost or delayed in the mail. Additionally, shopping for a dress is such a difficult process that needs to be done in person. If a dress has too much ruffle or sits funny on your shoulder, it’s going to be a no, and some of those things just can’t be seen while shopping online. Prices of online stores vary, so it’s very plausible to fall in love with a $50 dress or a $300 one. Shopping for a dress online truly is hit or miss, so if you’re willing to take a risk, go for it.
Finally, the last place to shop for dresses is department stores. Department stores such as Nordstrom are very overlooked in terms of dress shopping. I never hear people saying they are going shopping at these stores, even though they have such a wide variety of dresses. Whenever I’ve gone to shop at one of these stores, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. They do tend to cater towards a more simple style, if you’re looking for a new trendy dress, this might not be the best place for you. Prices at stores like these never seem to be too outrageous yet it isn’t unexpected to see a dress costing a pretty penny.
Overall, dress shopping can be a very fun and hectic experience and finding the perfect dress can be possible at any of these stores.
