.) What was it like the making the Pumpkin-shaped cake? Making the pumpkin cake was a challenge. To begin, I had to plan the idea out. Then, once I had baked the cakes the challenge was to color, roll out, and shape the fondant. Dealing with the fondant (coloring it, rolling it out, and shaping to the cake), was definitely the hardest thing.

.) How long have you been baking for? I have baked for a long time. My mom, from Brazil, was the person who sparked my interest for cooking and baking because ever since I was little I would always watch her cook in the kitchen.

.) What is your favorite thing to bake? My favorite thing I have baked is an apple tart

.) What is the difference between cooking and baking? Baking uses a lot of precise measurements, while cooking is a more flexible.

.) What inspires your cake designs? I look online for a lot of ideas, but I mainly watch the Food Network challenges when they compete to make amazing cakes.

.) Do you follow any baking shows? At the moment, “Sweet Genius” is my favorite show because I can watch master chefs prepare all kinds of deserts, from frozen items, to baked goods. But I follow many baking shows. The first one which caught my eye was “Ace of Cakes.” Since then I have watched the shows “Cake Boss,” “DC Cupcakes,” “Cupcake wars”–any Food Network challenge that has to do with cake making, and many others

.) What advice would you give to people who are interested in baking? If I had to give advice to people in baking, I would say that trial and error is the only way to be successful. Trial and error is the only way to be successful because the only way to get just the right recipe is to test different amounts of certain ingredients.

.) Are there any baking secret’s that you’d like to share? One baking secret I have is to always have your oven preheated all the way before putting in the baked good, because the cooking process will be thrown off if you don’t!
