Myers–Briggs Type Indicator, or more well known as MBTI, is in the name. It’s a personality type indicator. The way it’s used is up to the interpreter but the concept is to figure out how you act, what your strengths and weaknesses are, how your relationship dynamics should be, along with other things.
I was only introduced to it about a year ago, but I’ve become obsessed with it. I’ve asked almost every person I’ve met what type they are. But sometimes I only ask to test the waters with new people. A dip in the pool, if you will. If they haven’t even taken the test, they aren’t worth my time. I ask people what their type is although I still have no idea what it means when someone says they are one type or another. There are people that dedicate more time to it than I do, but I’m a part of the larger portion that just take the test and exchange their type with others. The test takes around 10-15 minutes. A good chunk of time that could be spent on work instead. But why would anyone put work ahead of figuring out your personality type?
I’ve taken the test approximately three times. The first time, INFP, I got the same personality type the second time, INFP. But by the third time, more recently, I got ISTP. I thought this was odd so I looked to the internet for answers. And this isn’t relating to physical ailments or symptoms, it’s only mental, so in my mind it’s perfectly safe. There isn’t a possibility of your type changing overtime, but according to psychology junkie, the way you exhibit your type should and will change as you walk through life. As you go through more experiences, it’s essential that the way you look at your personality type molds to fit you at the moment.
I find it wonderful that not a whole lot of people talk about MBTI. But that doesn’t mean I find it wonderful when I ask someone their personality type and they tell me they haven’t taken the test. The free test is on the 16 personalities website. Once again, it’s only 10-15 minutes long and how much is learned about yourself is increased exponentially. And after, you can relate to those MBTI memes on instagram.
