Ladue’s Second Annual Fashion Show a Success

Ladues Second Annual Fashion Show a Success

Ladue’s Fashion Club completed its second fashion show on Friday, March 28 after many hours of work leading up to the event.

One of the members, sophomore Olivia Davis, designed a few of the outfits for the show. The show also had a number of sponsors, including Saks Fifth Avenue, who agreed to help for next year’s fashion show.

“We got our 13 sponsors in different ways. Olivia Rae Designs was my [assigned] business, so I [contributed] one skirt to the show,” Davis said. “The other people in the club had connections to [businesses], or we simply asked and they said yes.”

According to Davis, this year was intense because every one of the 20 models had to learn how to walk, pose and make suitable facial expressions.

“Having that many people is a challenge, especially with making sure they were all at the meetings and giving constructive criticism without hurting their feelings,” Davis said. “We just pushed everyone to do the best they could.”

Junior Milli Laird took part in the fashion show, modeling two outfits. She had to practice before the show to make sure the poses and walks were perfect.

“It was fun trying the clothes on and having my hair and makeup done,” Laird said.

Davis said her favorite part of the experience was seeing the models’ confidence when they were in a “hot outfit,” and she felt even better when the outfits were her design.

“I love working with all the people; I’m just happy we were able to get this many people to come together for an amazing night,” Davis said.

Almost everything involved in creating the fashion show brought challenges, Davis said, such as getting people to come to meetings, putting the clothes in order and choosing the music.

“I don’t think anyone in the school could do what fashion club does,” Davis said. “Fashion is so much harder than people think, only we are able to make it look easy.”
