Ladue’s Science Olympiad team competed in an invitational hosted by the University of Chicago Jan. 20. The team placed third overall in the tournament, and the team members received awards in many events. Dynamic Planet, Picture This and Materials Science were just a few of the events that the team placed in.
“This was the first time in our season that we really had to go against some pretty highly ranked teams, and nationally ranked teams in the past. This was a really good experience to show us what we need to improve on,” sophomore Shelei Pan said.
The students had the opportunity to see UChicago’s campus while they competed. Many of the team members felt like they did well at the tournament and hope to do well in the regional competition as well.
“I don’t know how happy people are individually, but as a team I feel like we all are very proud of ourselves. Now we just want improve and get ready for regionals and keep going,” senior Annie Liu said.
