The Netflix original movie “He’s All That” premiered Aug. 27th and had already gained popularity on social media. This movie achieved popularity quickly because of famous “actors” having major roles in the movie.
A teenage influencer focusing on beauty, Padgett, (played by TikTok star Addison Rae) is embarrassed by her boyfriend on her livestream by cheating on her with another girl. Padgett loses thousands of followers and her brand deals that pays the bills for her family. Padgett takes a bet to transform a high school nobody into prom king to gain what she has lost.
The story is based on a school of kids that comes from wealthy families, but Padgett is unlike the rest. She lives a “double life” on social media and to her friends she is a semi-famous influencer from a wealthy family. But, in reality, she is an influencer but comes from a poor family of just herself and her mom. Padgett’s followers and brand deals are important to her because she helps pay the bills for her family and how she plans to pay for college.
To gain back her followers that she lost from being embarrassed by her famous ex-boyfriend, Jordan Van Draanen (played by Peyton Meyer) who cheated on her. Padgett became a meme and lost thousands of followers and her brand deals so she made a bet with her friends to transform a high school nobody, Cameron Kweller, (played by Tanner Bushanan) who is a down to earth guy that doesn’t submit to the teenager’s popularity into prom king.
The target audience for this movie is pre-teens and teenagers and this movie shows a very unrealistic way of life for average teenagers which is what makes the story interesting which prevents people from just switching to another movie.
Overall this movie met my expectations, I did not expect this movie to be a masterpiece nor a one star experience. I would recommend this movie if you want a good laugh at the cheesy and cringing storyline as a quick watch.
