The St. Louis Rams used to be feared on Sunday. There was a time when St. Louis fans paid close attention to the local football team. Of course, now the circumstances are vastly different.
The Cardinals have won two World Series in the past seven years and are fighting to win another one in 2013. They are the focus of St. Louis sports while the Rams have fallen into disfavor due to their countless frustrating seasons.
After a Monday night loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams sit at three wins and five losses, languishing at the bottom of the NFC West. Even worse for the Rams was the devastating injury of quarterback Sam Bradford.
Monday night’s game was a perfect example of all the problems that have befallen the Rams. The Rams fought hard the entire game and outgained the Seahawks by over 100 yards. Unfortunately, an inability to score from the one-yard line at the end of the game ended a possible comeback. Truthfully, the Rams dominated the game and should have picked up a victory over a key rival. There is a problem with the overall play of the Rams. The players work very hard and mostly execute plays at a very high level, but they often lack the ability to score touchdowns or finish comeback attempts.
However, credit must be given to the Rams despite another subpar season. Just two years ago, they were 2-14. They have improved vastly since then. Maybe someday, the Rams will return to their former glory.
