The multipurpose room fills with the buzz of people, color and fun activities set up everywhere. Dance Marathon held its big event on February 9th where students, staff and parents gathered to support a good cause as well as enjoy the festivities included in the event.
“We had a fundraising Jail, pie in the face, Fred Bird, a robotics robot, face painting, lots of food, and most [importantly], our miracle Families shared their stories,” Harper Buxner (12) said.
Although the amazing activities were a main part of the fun, the strong push and cause behind this fundraising is what brought everyone together on that special day.
“The purpose of Dance Marathon is to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, which partners with our local Children’s Hospitals,” Georgia Bland (12) said. Along [with] fundraising, our goal within Ladue DM is student engagement, to bring our community together supporting a good cause.”
Nevertheless, all the hard work put into making this event should be recognized because of the hours of work put in by the executive bards and the members. They worked hard to set up decorations for the event as well as conducting continuous fundraisers which came to a grand total of $60,644.12.
“The executive board has been working hard since August to prepare for the event as well as holding fundraisers all throughout the school year,” Bland said. “The morale team has been practicing since around October for the big day.”
In total, around 115 people attended the event making it a fun and engaging time for the students as well as the miracle kids who got to share their story, but most of all seeing all the fun was a reflection of the hard work put into arranging the event.
“Special moments from the event were seeing all of our hard work come together,” Buxner said. “And flipping the final reveal numbers with my co-Director, Georgia.”
