AP studio art finishes up their gallery displays

Mr. Raedeke’s AP studio art class is currently finalizing its art exhibit, which will be displayed in the school gallery. The class has an opening ceremony for the exhibit Feb. 10 from 4-6 p.m. for friends and family of AP studio art students to attend. “I’m pretty excited,” said AP studio art student Ashley Gray (12). “I think it’s going to be really nice to have something in the gallery.”

In the Spanish hallway, students made decorations that represent the celebration for the Day of the Dead. Each box was personally made by a student for a celebrity or a loved one that passed away. "[And for] each of their boxes, they needed to have pictures and items that loved one enjoyed," DeLia said.

McKenzie Durbin takes photos during photography class. The class has been working with lighting and shadows. "I enjoy photography because we get to go around the school and take fun pictures," Durbin said.

The “Fresh Paint” art gallery boasts a number of elaborate student paintings. The paintings come from all different experience levels ranging from Painting I to AP Studio Art. “In April, there'll be a senior art show, and we'll put announcements out for seniors to bring in work,” Daniel Raedeke said. “We don't jury the show, so everybody's accepted in, and we fill the gallery space and also the foyer for that show.

The Ladue School District School Board held an open meeting Dec. 11 to wrap up the calendar year and discuss policy changes for next year. One such agenda item was changes to the Ladue Middle School curriculum for the 2025-26 school year, which included the addition of broadcast courses. “We're excited about that option, the trajectory that goes into [Ladue] High School,” Angela Thompson, Ladue Middle School principal, said. “We want to be able to have that opportunity.”

The participants play Volleyball with the help of their volunteers who cheer for them. The sport each semester for Special Olympics changes and next semester it will be track and field. "There is a bowling, volleyball, and track and field event throughout the year," Yancy said.

Attendees walk through metal detectors to enter the opening home varsity football game versus Ritenour High School, Friday, Sept. 6. It was the first event where security gates were implemented. “I felt like it was an airport,” Anastasia Chostner (12) said. “There were metal detectors and a much greater amount of cops.”
