“Money can’t buy happiness” is a phrase often met by two harsh opposing opinions. Some believe it to be an irrefutable fact that preaches against the ills of consumerism while others consider it a naive take only promoted by people with immense amounts of privilege. Ladue students offered their takes on this contentious proverb March 3.
“You can definitely buy stuff that makes you happy. Happiness as a feeling isn’t really something you can pay for though.”
– Miles Grossman (10)
“ It depends on the person, but for me I think money could definitely help with happiness. [However], I don’t think it’ll help in the long term when it comes to life satisfaction.”
– Margaret Leung (11)
