Every student at Ladue remembers the varsity boys’ soccer team’s agonizing loss to Parkway Central in the playoffs last year. Hopefully this year, the team can build on last year’s district championship and progress even further in the playoffs.
Although the team lost three seniors who were vital to last year’s accomplishments, much of the team’s core remains intact.
“Our defense will once again be key to our success,” Coach Matthew Prange said. “However, our offense is looking pretty good early on. If we can have both, it will be a great year.”
As always, the key games for the team will be the Suburban South Conference games. However, any game that affects district seeding will also greatly impact the Rams this season, particularly after last season’s second district championship of all time. Interestingly, Prange hopes the team will not bask in that success, but instead remember one of the most difficult games of their lives and build on it.
“Hopefully, we won’t forget the Parkway Central debacle and it will drive us to persevere and succeed in anything that might come our way,” Prange said.
Perhaps this year, Ladue fans will be able to celebrate multiple playoff victories in what could be an unforgettable season.
