What is meal prep? Meal prep is cooking portions of food fit for your goals. This can be used for wanting to gain weight, lose it, maintain it, eat healthier or just convenience. Anyone can meal prep and once you find what works for you, meals become a lot easier.
But how do you start prepping?
Step 1: Research, research research
Finding meals and recipes that you enjoy make sticking to your plan a million times easier. Prep does not have to be having chicken, rice and broccoli six times a day. There are hundreds of recipes to try out, but because meals are catered to you, trial and error with what you like is necessary to sticking with it. Find recipes that are simple foods you can have time and time again or a twist on an old classic you enjoy.
Step 2: Work with what you got
Meal prep is all about convenience and saving your time and money. It’s easier to cook a lot of your meals in bulk and not worrying about spending throughout the week. Always use your leftovers and check what you already have in your kitchen. Use different sauces and spices you have laying around and just experiment. Have fun with it.
Step 3: Have that donut
When it comes to prep, many people get caught up with thinking they need to be strict all the time. Depending on your goals of eating this way, not always being on track can actually help with staying on track. Meal prep can often feel repetitive after a while. Just because you prep meals doesn’t mean you can’t go out and have whatever you want, welcome those days where you want to have a burger and milkshake. Having days where you know you can let loose and eat whatever can help you keep your more important meals in your routine. Eat that donut.
