Ladue had won ten consecutive games after their loss to Parkway Central, but they couldn’t win a district championship against a Westminster team that defeated them in the same situation last year.
Kicker Jack Fox scored the only points in the first quarter for either team when he hit a field goal from 22 yards out late in the first quarter. The second quarter, however, was all Westminster, particularly quarterback Brett Bond. Bond started the scoring attack with an 11 yard touchdown run with just over three minutes to go in the half. Barely a minute and a half later, Bond tossed a 66 yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Demetris Williams and after Westminster got the ball back again, threw another touchdown pass with only 11 seconds left in the quarter.
Ladue made a valiant effort to come back in the third quarter, scoring on a 47 yard touchdown pass from Matthew Hooper to Cody Kniptash and another field goal from Fox to make the score 21-13. Unfortunately, Ladue could come no closer because of Williams’ second touchdown reception of the game and a late interception by Almus Bradley to end the game.
