The day after Ladue’s football team was eliminated from the playoffs, Ladue’s soccer team defeated Parkway West for the second time this season to earn the first sectional victory in Ladue history.
Ladue defeated Parkway West 2-1 earlier this season, but no one scored in this game until sophomore Chris Naunheim took a pass from junior Michael Wielansky and scored six minutes and 45 seconds into overtime. Senior Eric Stuber earned the shutout and Ladue’s dominating soccer team earned their 23rd win of the season. Ladue is one of the final eight teams left in the state playoffs and will play St. Dominic in their quarterfinal game.
“This year’s team is different from last year’s team,” Matthew Prange, the coach of the team, said. “Our offense and defense are both solid; we’ve outscored our opponents 92-11. Our defense plays well together and our offense doesn’t rely on one person to do all the scoring.”
