On a cold and rainy Halloween night when many Ladue students chose not to attend the first round playoff game between Ladue and Pacific High School, the Rams started quickly and continued their scoring onslaught throughout the game, destroying Pacific 51-8.
In the first quarter, less than five minutes into the game, running back Malcolm Davis scored the first of seven Ladue touchdowns on a five yard run. Just as Pacific was aiming to respond on their next drive, Udell Hyde intercepted a pass and returned it 84 yards, putting Ladue up 13-0. Another short run by Malcolm Davis near the end of the first quarter gave Ladue a dominating 20-0 lead going into the second quarter. Ladue added ten more points in the second quarter on a 25 yard field goal by kicker Jack Fox and a short run by James Scott.
In the third quarter, Ladue continued to pile onto their score behind the duo of quarterback Matthew Hooper and wide receiver John Collins who combined for two touchdowns, the first for 44 yards and the second for seven yards. Daylen Edwards added a 46 yard touchdown run in the quarter as well.
Pacific did score late in the fourth quarter to avoid a shutout, but Ladue utterly dominated an outmatched Pacific team. The Rams will continue their playoff run against Priory on Wednesday.
