7,004 days: it’s a long time. It’s longer than we have all been alive. It has been that long since the Ladue Rams were Central Division champions.
“It’s a great accomplishment to win the division,” senior forward Matthew Gould said. “I was a part of the team two years ago when we won the Founders Cup (Tier 3 championship), but I think that this is a greater accomplishment because this year we were able to beat a few teams that we couldn’t beat in the past.”
The team was able to compete at a higher level this year with seven seniors on the roster. Some of its best wins were against Eureka, rival MICDS, and John Burroughs.
“This year we [were a bigger] threat; we beat teams that destroyed us last year,” junior goaltender Elliott Shevitz said. “Eureka was definitely the biggest win because even though we were missing some key players, we came together to beat a really talented team.”
The team finished the season with a 10 -10 – 4 record, the best in 20 years.
“I know we didn’t come up with the championship, but we had a great time and a great season together,” Shevitz said.
