A deadly shooting took place at the Empire State Building this morning and has resulted in two deaths so far and injured nine others. According to witnesses, the shooter used a shotgun or a rifle and was killed by the police shortly after the shooting by the entrance to the Empire State Building. The police have blocked off a one-block area and believe the shooter’s motive was related to a dispute in the workplace.
Update: According to new reports, eight of the nine shooting victims, with the exception of the gunman’s initial target, Steve Ercolino, were injured by police gunfire. Policemen Craig Matthews and Robert Sinishtaj killed the gunman and injured eight others in their attempt to subdue the attacker, Jeffrey Johnson. Johnson is believed to have been motivated by a work-related dispute. (8/25/2012 4:05 CST)
