One of the hardest parts about quarantine so far has been being disconnected from my friends and the outside world. I spend a lot of time texting other people on my phone but it isn’t the same as seeing and talking to someone in person. Also, keeping myself to a schedule has been a challenge. Because classes aren’t structured like they used to be, it’s hard to keep myself disciplined. With all this free time I find myself reading a lot more. I usually don’t get to that many books during the school year but I’ve already read and reread a couple of novels. I’ve also picked up playing the piano again to pass some of the time. Some days the weather is really nice so I’ll go on a run or shoot a basketball outside my house. During this time, I feel most grateful for being able to stay home without worrying about a roof over my head or food on the table. I’m also extremely appreciative of healthcare workers and people who work in grocery stores or delivery services that put their health in jeopardy [so that] we are safe and are able to survive.
