The coronavirus pandemic at first seemed mild and got us a few days out of school, but soon I began to realize it would have a much harsher effect on our lives than expected. I was especially hit hard when the Brevard Summer Institute, a six week camp I had been looking forward to attending all year, canceled their program due to the pandemic. At first I was angry, but then cooled down to recognize that it still won’t be safe to go to any big events for a long time. While distraught that the coronavirus ruined my summer, I decided to make it a personal goal to improve musically at least as much as Brevard would have done for me. Currently I’m taking advantage of all this extra time to practice every day, and I am enjoying my advances so far.
