“Work towards your own goals even if other people don’t seem to support you. After Calc BC, everyone in my life: my friends, my teachers, and my parents, they all told me ‘Don’t take Calc III. Don’t push yourself there.’ But I knew that my goal was to study math, so I knew it was a step in the right direction. And I did it anyway because my personal goal was more important than what my friends thought about me or what my teachers wanted. I have been working really hard and learning a lot. Now my friends will ask me for math help they know because I am pretty knowledgeable about calculus. I think that my parents and teachers think higher of me now because I am in a better math class.”
