My family had been planning to go out to Colorado for spring break, something we do every year. We got there, unpacked the car, and the mountain ended up closing 30 minutes after we arrived. Luckily, my parents and aunt used to live there and still keep in touch with a lot of friends in the valley. We ended up staying with one of my aunt’s friends, Susan, at the ranch she and her husband live and work on. We spent about a week snowshoeing, fly fishing, cooking, and driving around central Colorado. I ended up trying a bunch of new meats that they had hunted themselves, I even helped make bison jerky. It was a really good week that came out of a pretty bad situation.
