The hardest moments of the lock down are when my brain is split between supporting my family and supporting my students. I have a 3 month old, a 3 year old, and a 5 year old in Kindergarten. My days are filled teaching them and tending to their needs, leaving me to be a night hawk teacher from 8pm to midnight most nights. That is not an ideal scenario for anyone, but my students especially. It is truly a gut wrenching choice to make and there are times where I try to do more during the day. But, case in point, as I pulled myself away from kids right now to write this response I almost immediately heard a scream as my 3 year old decided to pull his big sister’s hair. Meanwhile, my 3 month old is in a swing fussing at me when I’m not looking directly at her. Being a parent to young kids while teaching can easily make you feel like no one is getting your best, never a fun place to be.
