After multiple weather delays, the Ladue football team defeated Parkway Central 43-21. The team moves to 3-1 with the win and has now won its last two games.

Ladue’s running game, led by senior Chino Davis, sparked a tremendous offensive outburst. Davis totaled 141 yards on 20 carries and caught two passes for 29 yards.

“If it wasn’t for our line I would not have been able to run the ball the way I did,” Davis said. “I give credit to the big boys in the front and making the coaches for making the play calls, trusting me with the ball to make a play.”

The game was delayed twice due to thunderstorms, but it was finished on Saturday afternoon.

Junior quarterback Jordan Jackson competed nearly 70% of his passes in the game. He threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns while nearly completing 70 percent of his passes.

In 2015, Ladue lost a close matchup against Parkway Central. But this year, the players changed the way they prepared.

“This year, we didn’t do that much differently during the game,” Jackson said. “However, we went into the game with a whole different mindset because we knew they were the conference champs last year.”

Another highlight of the game was when senior Michael West intercepted Parkway Central’s quarterback Mitchell Goldenberg and recovered a fumble, thereby shifting the momentum of the game. While the Ladue team recently lost senior running back Jaylen Johnson due to a leg injury, the team continues to keep moving forward without him on the field.

“We just keep following our slogan of ‘11 strong,’” Jackson said. “One player shouldn’t make or break our team, and the next man has to step up.”
