The Ladue Girls’ Soccer team poses for a photo after one of their Title Boxing sessions. The team works out on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. “We are not getting touches on the ball, [but] we get a full body workout [that] make[s] us stronger.” captain Sarah Cook said.

In preparation for the upcoming soccer season, the Girl’s Soccer Team is going to workout sessions at Title Boxing. The girls go to these workouts every Tuesday and Thursday immediately after school. At the Manchester Title Boxing location, the athletes engage in a mixture of core exercises, cardio, and boxing techniques and skills. This is the first year the soccer team has chosen Title Boxing as their off season workout.

“We looked at a bunch of different options but decided on Title Boxing because [we] thought that it would be a fun and different way to get in shape.” Dave Aronberg, head coach said, “The thought was that Title Boxing would keep the interest level high while providing a challenging workout.”

Two years ago the team did one session of Title Boxing during the spring soccer season. Aronberg wanted the off season workouts to be enjoyable and engaging. Rather than running workouts, boxing allows the athletes to workout in an interesting way.

Aronberg said, “The girls seem to be committed and excited to workout together twice a week.”

The team started Title Boxing sessions on January 9th. This allows the athletes to start preparation for the season seven weeks before it begins.

We started right after winter break when most people got back from vacation.” senior captain, Sarah Cook, said, “Seven weeks is a good amount of time to get back in shape and start preparing [for the season].”

As well as getting in shape, Title Boxing is also intended to be a team bonding activity for the team. Preseason workouts help new players meet returning players.

“We have 40 girls working hard together.” Aronberg said, “It’s a great way to start building successful team chemistry.”

Through preseason workouts, the captains and Aronberg hope to build a strong camaraderie among the players. Heading into the season already familiar with the other athlete will promote a tight bond among teammates and success in the future.

“It’s necessary that the group finds something that they can do together to start working towards a goal together,” Aronberg said, “Whether that’s Title Boxing, a running program, Athletic Republic, etc. doesn’t really matter in my eyes as long as we can reach as many athletes as possible all working together and building the family atmosphere that our program is all about.
